Madhuri with MF Hussain, the painter
Recently, M.F.Husain chose to portray the Indian film star Madhuri Dixit in his work as a symbol of Indian womanhood. The media, quite understandably, raised a hue and cry about his association with a young, beautiful and talented woman. Undaunted, M.F.Husain pursued his 'obsession' with the silver screen icon. Those who were more sympathetic to the undertaking saw that he was in fact promoting art to the masses through the universally popular medium of cinema.
